Blue Screens on boot up

I have had NIS (version 19.9.0.9) installed on my system for a couple of years now and never had a problem.  Within the past week, however, I have had a blue screen appear twice upon turning on my computer (Win 7 Pro 64-bit).  The first time I let Windows "repair" the problem and it apparently deleted the entire virus definitions file, as upon restart my NIS stated that it needed to run Live Update and that consisted of about 160 megs.  Today I just selected "Start Windows Normally" after the blue screen and the system hung until I repowered it and told Windows to start normally.

Any ideas?  Is there something in a recent virus definitions update that Windows doesn't like?

Thanks.
