Ran Norton 360 several times and keep receiving a threat alert pop up message that the "boot.cidox" threat still needs attention. Norton 360 offers no suggestions about what action to take to eliminate the threat. Did several rescans and received the same message. Also ran Power Eraser but the threat alert message still appears. Downloaded MalWareBytes and ran that scan several times with no success on the "boot.cidox" threat. My system is a Dell Latitude D610 laptop with XP, service pack 3, 40 GB of disk space, and 1 GB of RAM.
I believe the boot.cidox threat was on the lap top before I installed and ran Norton 360. If Norton 360 had been on the lap top from the beginning, would Norton 360 have stopped the boot.cidox threat?
