Boot Time protection is off

I believe just turning off FAST START will do the trick. NORTON strongly recommends turning off FAST START on any WIN version.

8 Ball:  I was on win10, reinstalled because of issues. win 10. WIN 10 FAST START is the default and Boot protection was off.  Whwn. I turned off  FAST START then BOOT Protection became normal from off..

Hmm, okay.  Thanks for adding explanation.
I've not heard Fast Startup Off, changes Boot Time Protection to Normal.
I'm always Fast Startup Off + BTP Aggressive.
My read of opening post, g_cafe_c is simply unsure regarding BTP.

8 Ball: This issue may be caused by FAST START for the boot.

> what issue ?  Norton Boot Time Protection is Off by default.

This issue may be caused by FAST START for the boot. I believe the WIN10 default is FAST START. Don't use this option. Comments?

Boot Time Protection increases security when you start your computer. A boot time scan is a virus scan that runs before the operating system fully loads. This allows Norton to scan files before they are used by another program or the operating system.

To fully protect your computer during start up, you must configure Boot Time Protection.

My (W10) BTP is Aggressive.   Your BTP will be as works/feels best for your setup.  If Aggressive feels like Norton is bumping into your other program that run at Startup.  Then move to Normal.
BTP is Off by default, because Norton does not know how Norton will react regarding your Startups (programs/services/tasks that run at startup).
To fully protect your computer during start up, you must configure Boot Time Protection.
My understanding of BTP is that Aggressive starts BT Protection a tad sooner.
Normal starts BT Protection.
Off starts BT Protection a tad later.
Since, Aggressive feels okay on my setup.  My BTP is Aggressive.

I've also read BTP is Intelligent.  Meaning if threat is detected BTP will be more aggressive.

We know you need to get to work (or play) quickly when you boot your PC. But those first few moments after you turn on your PC are crucial: that’s when your system is most vulnerable and malicious threats can attack. New features in this Beta release monitor system changes that can lead to boot-time infection. Detection of such changes triggers Norton to automatically enter aggressive boot-time protection mode.

The boot time protection feature provides enhanced security level from the time you start your computer. It ensures better security by running all the necessary components that are required for computer protection as soon as you start your computer. A boot time scan is a virus scan that is run before the operating system fully loads up. This allows your Norton product to have access to all the files on your computer with no chance that they are being used by another program or the operating system.

To protect your computer during boot time, you must configure the Boot Time Protection option.
