First of, thansk to all of you cluing me in on malewarebytes. its a nice adjunct to Norton.
I did run a malewarebytes scan and all came up clean. But then does it check for BOTs? Or do bots leave some maleware residue and thus malewarebytes and NAV2008 pick up on that, eliminate the maleware and then render the bot useless?

Comcast has twice pestered us with a generic "bot activity detected" message. Does the Norton Suite that is free with Comcast detect and or remove "bots"? Not clear from anything I've found. Otherwise, all of our scans have been fine. Should we worry or use some other software?
Is there some known weakness with Norton? Otherwise, why aren't we simply told that as long as we keep Norton updated and running that all is fine? There is a whole lot of chatter on the Comcast site about "do-it-yourself" bot removal and other such.
You are 100% correct - there is some weakness with Norton - as there is with all security/AV software. One program can not detect or stop it all and will never be able to! Of course there is discussion on Comcast about removal via "DIY" bot removal and other such as you claim. You will see LPP and USAF_E-8_RET consistently question and discuss the info provided by Comcast - mainly because they are concerned about the validity of the info being put out by Comcast....and if in fact the DIY instructions Comcast provides is correct, the best way to go, or whatever.
The Comcast forums are open, and can be viewed (if not responded to) by everyone with an internet connection. Why should I present something as "yank" here and something different on the Comcast forums as USAF_E-8_RET???
Many alternatives are being discussed and hopefully Comcast employees are listening... and I believe that is best discussed on the Comcast Forum, as you may see, no Norton followers have replied here!
