I have been experiencing an annoying error message “service module has stopped working”. The most recent message:from 5/7/09
Faulting application VProSvc.exe, version 14.0.4.30167, time stamp 0x49418ede, faulting module ole32.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791a74c, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00128885, process id 0xaf4, application start time 0x01c9cd9f1f0da767.
From the system event viewer the oldest one was from 1/25/09:
Faulting application VProSvc.exe, version 12.0.5.29804, time stamp 0x491b5f25, faulting module ole32.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791a74c, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00128885, process id 0x5d8, application start time 0x01c97e7317df1dae
Between these two dates the log shows 15 events with Vprosvc.exe failing. As you can see, the event happens under both Ghost 12 and 14. The common program seems to be ole32.dll ver 6.0.6001.18000.
While the event does not cause and apparent problems in the functionality of the computer, the error message is getting to be annoying.
The processor is an AMD Athlon 64 and the OS is Vista business, SP1 updated every few days.
Ideas welcome as to why this happens.
