BROWSER OPERA UNPROTECTED BY NORTON SECURITY

my very first message on norton community seems to have disappeared (maybe i forgot to save - thought you had to send it to the community) but was as follows:

1) my CHROME webbrowser is protected by norton security (NS). i find the NS yellow/black icon in upper left/righthand side  when opening a page. when i installed CHROME i remember that i had to check off about 5 different NS items as part of installation process and protection. i have also installed OPERA on pc but this browser is unprotected. i did something wrong during installation process and the 5-item checkoff never went through. i removed OPERA and made some reinstallations but  nothing changed. so it is unprotected.

WHAT WRONG HAS BEEN DONE?

SHOULDN'T THE NS ICON BE VISIBLE ON OPERA IN THE SAME WAY AS ON CHROME?

SHOULD I REMOVE/UNINSTALL OPERA AGAIN AND THEN INSTALL AGAIN?

MAYBE OPERA WAS JUST DOWNLOADED BUT NEVER EXPLICITLY INSTALLED ON PC? HOW DO I CHECK THIS?

i would prefer to have OPERA as  my default browser.
