BSOD in WinXp Related to SYMDS and SYMEFA in NIS 2010

I did a fresh install of XP Home sp2 about 3 weeks ago, along with NIS 2010. All had been running great. Last Friday I swapped out my AMD 64 x2 6000+ CPU, and replaced it with an AMD Phenom x4 955 Black. All ran well until later that night, I rec'd a reboot. Over the weekend, my rig worked great all day, and then I would get a reboot, and it happened once a day through Monday. It finally dawned on me to to disable reboot, so I could read the BSOD error.

The BSOD was related to SYMDS and SYMEFA. Yesterday, Monday, I uninstalled NIS 2010, and on re-installing NIS, it did 2 major updates, 71 meg and 63 meg respectively. All was good until I tried to do a FULL SYSTEM SCAN. BSOD with SYMDS error. I uninstalled NIS again, and re-installed after I re-installed all of my device drivers, including mobo chipset. All runs fine, and over-night I had it scan all drives using "SCAN DRIVES". When I woke this morning the message box was up that it found nothing. (NOTE: Over the weekend I ran other security software, and they found nothing.)

I had to go out for a few hours this morning, and while I was gone I had it do a FULL SYSTEM SCAN. I came home to a BSOD, stating "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". After a restart from the BSOD, the rig runs fine ALL afternoon (5 hours), mainly using AutoCad.  Check email, do some browsing, and ATI pops up a VPU restart error. On checking, NIS had just done an update at the exact same time.

I'm at a total loss as to what is happening, and hoping that someone can help me out with this. It seems to be centered around NIS, without pointing fingers.
