BSOD on attempting to uninstall NAV 5.0 from Win 2K laptop

I get a Blue Screen of Death crash on Symevent.sys when I attempt to uninstall Norton Antivirus 5.0 from a Windows 2000 laptop.  The Norton Removal Tool does not evidently work on such an old version.

 

Any suggestions?
