BUG high latency and audio dropouts when doing backup through network NIS 2012 Intrusion Prevention

When I run a backup with Acronis True Image to a network drive I experience high latency and audio dropouts. I can pinpoint the problem down to NIS Intrusion Prevention. I noticed this latency problems with other network related activities, too. But here it is best visible.

How to reproduce?

Computer is connected through LAN with network drive. Make backup to network drive with Acronis True Image 2012 (ftp connection). In NIS 2012 all modules are disables except for Intrusion Prevention (see screenshot). At the same time, music is being played with Spotify. Latency measured with DPC Latency Checker 1.3.

Actual result

High latencys measured with DPC Latency Checker. Music that is played by Spotify features cracks and dropouts.

Expected results

Latency should stay below 1000 and no dropouts occur for music playback. Compare results in screenshots when Intrusion Prevention is turned off. Also, when I make backup to local disk problem does not occur. So it is clearly related to high network throughput

System configuration

Windows 7 32 bit

Norton Internet Security 2012  19.7.1.5

Acronis True Image 2012

LAN 10/100/1000 Fast Ethernet by Realtek 8111E connected via Gigabit connection

WD My Book Live 2 TB

Asus Xonar D2 Audio device

Thank you for the tip. That does solve the problem for the specific situation.

But Intrusion Prevention still causes higher latency whenever network traffic occurs, eg. surfing. Not as extreme though as in the example I provided, but it does lead to an occasional hickup of sound output.

It also seems to get worth the longer the computer is running ..
