Bug report: Norton Internet Security 2009 Identity Safe

I've been experiencing this issue a few times. Each time i try to logon Identity Safe in a hurry it overrides the prompt that appears when it notices a logon page.

When this happens and i try to write something firefox stops responding and ccSvcHst.exe crashes. After the crash the norton system tray dissappears and to make everything work normally again i have to stop the "Norton internet security" service and start it again.

I hope there is a way of fixing this since it's quite annoying to do this when you are in a hurry...

Try rightclicking the image and click "show image" or something. That way you can see the whole image.

Btw. I am using firefox 3.0.7 (happened to 3.0.6 aswell), Windows xp professional SP3 fully updated. I'm using these security applications: NIS 2009, PCTools Threatfire, SecuniaPSI and F-Secure Exploit Shield. I have MBAM as on-demand (never had to use it lol).

My addons in Firefox are as follows: Adblock plus, DownThemAll, Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer, IE View lite, Java quick starter, Nrton IPS and Norton toolbar, NoScript and quickrestart.

That doesn't work here.  When you post an image, what you post is what we see.  We don't get a link to the original site where you posted the image.

Shannon resized the image. Take a look here: http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/5776/identitysafe.jpg

It looks like you have two levels of protection that require password authentication.  One level is to simply get into Identity Safe; the other is to use it for a particular site.  You might consider disabling or modifying one of the two just to see what happens.

Well, sometimes when i'm in a hurry i enter the name of the site i'd like to enter (gmail in this case) and just when i enter it i click on "Cards & Log-ins". That way two Identity Safe password boxes appear and NIS crashes (including Firefox).

I don't see a reason to disable any of them as i use the automatic dialog all the time and i click on  "Cards & Log-ins" sometimes when i want to log-in immediately or just to make sure that i'm logged in with Identity Safe.

I’d like to see a response from a Symantec employee please…

HI Salihb-

I tried some ad-hoc testing based on your original problem description but I think I am not quite understanding the timing and exactly what steps you are taking.

I am starting with no browser running, logged out of Identity Safe, and have no google login stored.

Then I launch Firefox to the Gmail login page and try to quickly login.  I don't see the dialogs you are showing.

Can you list more of a step-by-step description of exactly what you are doing in order to see this issue?

Thanks,

Everything happens just as you described… It might be hard to do it manually since its pretty random. It happens mostly first time i open firefox (everytime i shutdown firefox it removes any traces left etc). It happens pretty random, but when it finally happens it’s quite annoying. It has happened 3-4 times for me since i installed 2009 (2 months ago)…
