Norton 360 v. 5.0.0.125

Hi ressu,

Thanks for letting us know that you're seeing this issue with Norton 360 v5 as well. Please see this thread for more information on the problem and our progress toward resolution.

Hi.

Apparently that thread has been marked "solved" by the one who initially reported it even though the bug hasn't been fixed. Futhermore, it refers to a different product. Not sure about your processes, but I'd think it makes sense to keep it open here.

Hi ressu,

I'm sorry for not clarifying. I agree that the issue is not SOLVED yet, though Tim_Lopez has posted some information on why it will take longer to resolve, and when it may be resolved.

Additionally, Norton 360 and Norton Internet Security share some components, and the Activity Map is one of them. While it's occasionally true that an issue in a shared component is only seen in one of the products, it's more likely that the issue will be seen in both products. The latter seems to be the case here, since the issue you're reporting seems identical to the issue seen in the referenced thread. But if you have additional information that would indicate otherwise, please let us know. We want to be sure that we capture all issues that emerge.

Also, as you've noticed, this thread has not been locked from further posting. My previous reply was intended to provide additional information to you about your reported issue. It was not intended to "shut down" this thread, and I'm sorry if it came across that way. Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. Thanks.

The link was provided by Norton Support. It is 64-bit. The only reason I run the file is because I was told by Norton Supoort to run that every here and there for maintenance purposes, I honestly don’t what kind of maintenance though. They even verified the definition file was correct on the machine and that they are attempting to test it themselves and they will get back to me if they can or can not replicate the problem.

Hi jweaver,

A few questions if I may - what is your operating system (including 32 or 64 bit), what was the link provided by Support and which Support (Norton or Comcast), and last but not least - why are you trying to run that file from that location?

Are you experiencing problems with updating your definitions?

It almost sounds like, you are using the incorrect definition file from the Intelligent Updater to attempt to update your definitions.

However with the little information I have about your situation, I may be out in left field.

With a newer download link that I was given by support symcdefs.exe doesn’t work right out of the newer download link and gives that error. I go to the older download link through the Constant Guard website and then it initially works right up to version 22.9.1.12

Maybe our resident NSS expert will have some ideas.

@yank, can you help this member?  Maybe a newer download link.

Thanks.
