Build 988 on Windows 10 Pro 22H2 ESU not behaving properly

Issue abstract: Norton 360 26.6.11052 (build 26.6.11052.988) on Windows 10 Pro finally arrived just now.

Detailed description: Before this update it was possible to set the Norton VPN in Windows services to start manually and stop the service then save that setting. With build 988 I must disable tamper protection first, then set the service to manual, then it allows me to save that setting.

BEFORE being able to save that setting and BEFORE disabling tamper protection I could set the service to manual but NOT able to save. Please note the red X’s in the system tray that were presented. Setting the service to manual caused the red X issue without that setting being saved which took further manual adjustments.

Restoring tamper protection DOES NOT remove the red X’s on the system tray icons. And yes, I rebooted several times before posting this. Nothing changes unless I restore the VPN to automatic load in Windows services. I shouldn’t have to do all this in the first place.

I might add that, clicking restore protection gets rid of the red X issue. I then look at Windows services again and see that, restoring protection once again. Enables the Norton VPN service although it remains to RUN manually. I DO NOT want that service loading with Windows, period.

Edited: Clicking repair my Norton install instantly resets my settings in Windows services back to the service running and set to start automatically. No red X’s.
