As more of what we do online grows, so does the need for cyber security professionals. Now that everything is connected, criminals are shifting their focus to the Internet landscape, utilizing social engineering and other types of scams to obtain financial and personal data from unsuspecting victims. As a result, companies will need to beef up their own security, in turn creating a demand for more of these jobs. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs in cyber security are projected to grow 37 percent from 2012 to 2022.
Norton visited Cybergirlz Silicon Valley, which is a program offered by the Center for cyber security education and San Jose State University. We talked to the students in this program to hear their thoughts on the future of cyber security, and what motivates their passion for future careers in this rapidly growing industry.
