Call Blocking Not Working for months - Driod Pro

Hello,

I received an email response from you due to my giving a one star rating on Google Play:

"May 14, 2013 - Motorola Droid Pro with version 3.3.4.970

No good - Crashes if I try to block a phone number. Called 4 times, wont fix it.

Hi Clint, we are sorry to hear you are seeing crashes with your Norton Mobile Security when blocking phone numbers. Your issue has been forwarded to our development team for further investigation. If you can please provide any additional information, visit and create a post on the Norton Mobile Security Forum at http://norton.com/nms_support."

So here I am. Call Blocking does not work and has not worked for about 5-6 months. I called/chatted support 4 times about it, and was told to wait for new versions. However every time one comes along and I install it, once again Call Blocking does not work. I have an Android Droid Pro, ver 2.3.4 running NMS 3.3.4.970. Problem – I touch Block List, then +, then select a phone number from the call log, then press OK, then the app crashes (“Sorry! The application Norton Mobile Security has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.”)

Hi gotagreatdog - Welcome to The Norton Community.:smileywink:

Do you have the same issue in adding a number to the Block List if you

select a number from the Contacts or SMS Log options. ? or Manual Input.?

Have you tried to uninstall Norton Mobile Security ( NMS ) and download

and install NMS to start off fresh.?

I realize you would have done the updates as they have been released, but

have you tried a fresh install.?

It might fix the issue you have.?

Otherwise if you have tried reinstalling NMS and have had no luck normally

something like a LogCat can help the Norton Team to work out what is going

wrong each time you try to add a number to the Block List of the Call Blocking

feature of NMS. ( But that would be the next lot of steps taken if needed  to try

and resolve this issue ).

Let us know how you go if you try the uninstall and reinstall steps.

Cheers. :smileywink:

I'M A TECHNICAL GUY TOO - SO I AM REALLY HATING THIS

BTW ON MY PC, NORTON 360 JUST DISAPPEARS ALL THE TIME, AND MANY TIMES I CANNOT ACCESS THE PASSWORD VAULT BECAUSE IT REJECTS MY PASSWORD - EVEN THOUGH I CAN LOG IN TO MY NORTON ACCOUNT ONLINE...

Hi gotagreatdog

Thank you for the info you have supplied. :smileyhappy:

I have ran out of ideas on what to try next to make NMS

Call Blocking work on your Android device. :smileysad:

The LogCat would have to be taken with the CatLog app

and then passed onto the Norton Team devs to look at. :)

I will inform the Norton Team of this ongoing problem that you

have.

Cheers. :smileywink:

Hi gotagreatdog

With these issues you might like to post it in the Norton 360 (N360) forum for the issue

you have with N360.

http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360/bd-p/Norton_360

And with the problem with the Norton Toolbar and the vault password you could post the

questions in the Norton Toolbar / Identity Safe forum.

http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Toolbar-Norton-Identity/bd-p/Toolbar_IDSafe

In both forums you will get great help. :)

Cheers. :smileywink:

Hi gotagreatdog,

I'm sorry that you are still having this issue after such a long time. Could you please attempt this again and when the crash happens send the report again and let me know around what time you sent the logs? That way I can try and grab the logs and forward them to the development team to make sure they have the latest set of logs for this issue? Could you please also private message me your Norton Account e-mail address?

I am having the same issue on a Motorola Photon Q (XT897) Android Version 4.1.2. Sprint. In addition, the phone seems to have slowed down (and battery life has worsened) since I installed Norton. I also have a Pebble Smart Watch paired to the phone. I suspect there is some type of conflict between the watch apps and Norton. I havwe Norton Spot, Norton Mobile, Norton Halt, and Norton Utilities installed. I also have The Protection App from Sprint/Asurian installed.

You mentioned that you think that the Call Blocking feature of Norton Mobile Security (NMS)  may not be

working because you use a Pebble Smart Watch which is paired via Bluetooth with your Motorola Android

device.

Can you actually add any numbers to the Block List in the NMS Call Blocking settings ( Manually or from

the Call Log etc ) on your Android Smartphone.?

Does the NMS app crash with any error messages.?

Is your Moto Android Smartphone running a custom Android operating system or a factory OS.?

There might be something you can try as a test which is as follows  -

Uninstall any Pebble apps ( from your Moto Android device ) then unpair the Pebble device and switch off

the Bluetooth and test the NMS Call Blocking feature settings, does Call Blocking now work.?

Also you should not have to worry about any compatibility issues with all the great Norton apps that you

have installed.

One last question being does the protection app from Sprint/Asurian have a similar call blocking security

feature as well.? which might be a compatibility issue between NMS and the Sprint/Asurian security application.?

Keep us posted and let us know how you go. :)

Cheers. :smileywink:
