Call Blocking Not Working -NMS

Hi,
Im having problem with call blocking in Norton Mobile Security. The moment i click the add button to access the call log etc my phone hangs and then NMS says that it has stopped working. My mobile is Galaxy S2 running on ICS 4.0.4. On my other mobile device running on ginger bread it works well. Please advice.

Hi vthinagar.

This does not happen for me.  Not that that will be much use to you.  :-(

You could try switching off the phone and then trying again after a reboot, or you could try uninstalling and then reinstalling NMS to see if that cures it.

What version of NMS are you using.  After the weekend works they issued an update and mine is currently on V3.3.0.892.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi Andmike,

I had this problem before too, but i cant remember if it was resolved or not. But now when i was just checking it, i found this problem again. Comparing with another device runnning on ginger bread then i knew for sure somethings wrong. Not that i use this function :), but i since its there i wished it worked. My version of NMS is the same as yours. Yup i rebooted several times but its still the same. Hmmm, i will try to uninstall it and try again. Thanks!

Hi Andmike,

I was curious that i immediately uninstalled and try again........unfortunately....no difference. I begining to think if there's some setting in my contacts? Its like the NMS tries to search for the contacts but then it hangs and then after a while the message. I've sent a report to Norton though.

Hello again vthinagar.

Sorry that did not help.  Is there a chance that you can post a screenshot of the setup just before and ideally just after the lock (I realise that by definition the later may not be possible).

I will also ensure that Norton are aware of this one.

Hi Andmike,

Thanks for the reply. I'm trying to contact Norton Live and already have a case id but still waiting to chat to the technical people. Well actually its a straight forward case, if you open call blocking and then you need to tap "+" to enter name etc....when i tap this it says please wait and the backgroup screen sort of shows just the title call log and them after a while, the screen goes blank.....i have to wait for awhile more before the message NMS has stopped working shows. Other function of NMS works well.

I can only get the screen shot before i press the tab, during and after i can't.

Hi vthinagar,

I have sent you a pm.  I am not able to reproduce this as well on a 4.0.4 device.  Please reply from your pm when you get a chance.

Thanks,

Sher

Hi sher,
So on your 4.0.4, it works huh? Thats strange right? I cant really remember but i think it was working earlier and i’ve tested it. Im wondering if any other phone setting are involved. Anyway i have sent a logcat report to norton and they looking into it i guess. Well keep updated.

Puzzling vthinagar.

Hopefully SherSym will be able to help you.  The only idea I have is that you might like to clear your call log and try again.

Good luck.

Hi Andmike,
That was a good suggestion, i thought it might work too, but nope it didnt. I tried my phone settings etc but nothing work. I even uninstall some application if its causing conflict, but its still the same.
Im waiting for norton now.

I have the same problem after the recent upgrade. Unable to use the + sign to add additional contact to the block list. The app will hang and close. Shutdown and restart won't help.

My device is also a Samsung S2 (Model GT-I9100)

Adroid version 4.0.4

NMS: V3.3.0.892

Hi Andmike,

Looks like now there's 2 of us who are having this problem. I'm yet to receive response from Norton yet.

Does that mean that you replied to SherSym's PM and he has not replied.  Or that you have not yet received his PM?

Hi Andmike,
I've replied to SherSym, got his response and further furnished him with extra details and waiting for his reply. That was 2 days ago. Thats ok. What i meant is other than this forum, i've also contacted Norton directly, was given a case id and that was the end of it. No reply from them except of course from SherSym whom you got me through. I just need to know if its a bug in NMS or my phone is the problem. If its a bug then we just need to wait for the next update. Could be the weekends. Will wait few days more
Thanks!

Hi mysynnor,

Do you remember which version of NMS you upgraded from?  I want to be able to reproduce what you've encountered.

Thanks,

Sherwin

Hi Sherwin,

The current problematic version 3.3.0.892 was installed on 22 Jan 2013. I can't find the version info before this as it was not recorded in NMS log.

I believed it was the version just right before 3.3.0.892 as my NMS is set to "Allow Automatic Updating" in Google Play. I have the habbit of checking "My Apps" in Google Play for update every few days.

My device is Samsung Galaxy S2

Model: GT-I9100

Adroid version 4.0.4

NMS: V3.3.0.892

Baseband version: I9100DXLPB

Kernel version: 3.0.15-1056084

                             dpi@HP16#3

SMP PREEMPT Thu Aug 23 2012

Build number: IMM76D.DXLPF

Hi Andmike, Thought i’d let you know, regarding the problem. Receive a reply from Norton, it seems there’s a bug, so it will be fixed in the upcoming NMS version 3.3.1.
Thanks for your asisstance.

Thanks for the update vthinagar.  :smileywink:

Good luck for the future.

Hello Andmike,
Thought will let you know, a new version of NMS V3.3.0.931 via google market is available now and solves this problem.

Thanks!

Great news vthinagar.

Thanks for the update.

Must be great to get your very own update!  ;-)
