Call Centre Dis-satisfaction on Norton Security & Backup

Recently purchased a Norton Security & Backup Card, and registered as directed.  Updated the PC, but when I tried to include my Mobile, the message came up that it was a "Trial ".  Obviously this is not a Trial, so I contacted FreePhone Call Centre and spoke to someone in India for help to rectify.  I was dis-satisfied with some of the communications between us, they felt that the Card was unregistered, but at one stage the Advisor had control of my Computer, and was then able to see the Card details on the Account. 

However, a short while later, I was told that it was not registered!  Finally it was suggested that their Technical Team may need to resolve the problem, but this would cost me £40 - which is ridiculous.

Any helpful ideas please?  I have a new Product that does not appear to be functioning appropriately!
