can I delete old .sv2i

Hello All

Using Norton Ghost v 15 to backup to External Hard Drive

Old Computer was Win XP SP3 - 1 internal drive

New Computer is Win 7 Prof 32 Bit - 2 internal drives

I have on my External HD backups (Full System & Incrementals) from my old XP computer. Except for the last complete backup done from that machine (which I want to keep until all documents moved to new computer) I don't need any of the other backups. On this External drive I now have for the new computer Full System backup of 1) Dell's Recovery Drive - whatever that is, but Ghost wanted to back it up; 2) 'C' Drive; 3) 'D' Drive. I also have one Incrmental backup done this past weekend for those 3 drives.

There are also two .sv2i files, one created from the last backup of the XP machine, and one created this last incremental of the Win 7 machine. From what I gather, these are 'index' files that NG uses?

Here's my question: Can I safely delete the old backups that are no longer valid or necessary, but leave the .sv2i file from the last XP backup? Once I have all my old documents copied to the new machine then I can safely delete the older .sv2i file and last .v2i file?

And to Delete the Recovery Point Set (Full Backup and Incrementals) I should do:

  1. On the Tools page, click Manage
         Backup Destination
    .
  2. Select the recovery point
set that you want to delete, and then click Delete.
  3. Click Yes to
         confirm the deletion.
  4. Click OK.

Is my thinking correct or will I mess things up for myself? LOL

Thanks for your help
