Can I extend my subscription by entering a new Product Key

My subscription expired.  In lieu of renewing, I purchased a new product.  On my desktop P/C, I ran the removal tool, and installed and registered the new product.  I was about to do the same on my notebook P/C, but I was wondering if there was a way to advoid reinstalling by somehow changing the product key on the notebook.

Your newly installed Norton product should pick up the key automatically - even if you have run the removal tool. The removal tool intentionally leaves your key behind in case you want to install a Norton product at a later time.

To be on the safe side, keep a printout of your Norton product key. You can fetch your key from your Norton account:

If you have a packaged version, type in the key, as mdturner said; you should find it on the CD sleeve/packaging.

New norton does gives an option to change product key and u can use new key for licence renewal.

For future, if u have renewed a subscription, u ll get extended time for the new product but if u buy new key, u ll only get specified time of subscription not extension of what u have.

e.g. If u have 100 days left and renewed it for 1 yr u ll get 466 days and u can use same key for next product version if available at that moment and get 466 days.

But if u buy that product with new licence key, and use it u ll get only 366 days. In that case no need to panic use ur old key to avail 100 days remaining and new key can be used later :)

TNX or the replies.

You can either wait until it is close to running out and it will automatically prompt you or you can do it from the Help menu. Whenever you do it for your notebook it will always have the same number of subscription days remaining as your other machine because it is a common subscription.

It has run out (I waited for it to run out before installing a newly purchased copy on my desktop).

When I open Norton on my notebook, the only thing it prompts me for is to "Subscribe Now".

I don't see anything in Help that would let me change the product key to the new one.

When I look at my Norton Account info.... yes it does show the new product key (because that is what I now have registered).

When you get to “subscribe now” you should be able to move on and enter your product key.

Did you click on "Subscribe now"? Then you should be able to enter your key.

Edit: Lol, double post ;-))) Sorry, mdturner, typed and posted at the same time ;-D

All Right!!! Now we’re cooking!  That was the missing part of the puzzle :smileywink:  I hope I remember that next year.  Now I’m going to update it to the 2010 version, which I’ve already on the desktop.

Well done. Glad you are up and running. Enjoy 2010.
