Can I restore a Windows-Ghost image back onto a Linux-formatted hard drive?

If I backup the Windows-disk of my laptop onto an external USB HDD, can I still restore the image after I have installed Linux on the laptop?

Will it automatically convert the file system again?

Do I need convert the file system first before I start restorting the Ghost image?

Also, what happens if you make a ghost image of a partition, and resize that partition later on? Does restoring the image adjust to the resized partition?
