My currently installed Norton IS subscription is running out. Last year I had purchased NIS 2012 (3 PCs) but did not install it because my subscription still had several more months to run. I'm wondering if I can use it now, and what are the steps for installing it. Just load the CD and follow the directions? (I have the physical disc.)

Welcome David, If you just want to renew the copy you are currently running you can install the key from the box into the software that you have already installed. Just open the UI and click on the word 'renew' and follow the directions. Do it just a few days before your current subscription expires because it will not recognize your remaining days and they will be lost.
And 2davidc8, you may continue using Norton Internet Security after using your available new/unused 3-PC key code for its renewal, as explained by dickevans. But, we hope you are also aware that a free upgrade to NIS 2013 is also available during the time period your current (or renewed) subscription is active, that is if you do not already have NIS 2013 running.
For instance, if you right-click on the Norton Icon in you system tray, an option to "Check for New Version" should appear. Or left-click on the UI's word "Support", and a drop-down menu should show the option "New Version Check". Follow through as you prefer.
And if you already have NIS 2013 installed, the new/unused key code for NIS 2012 will still work.
However, I've noticed that Live Update now works a bit differently. Now when I apply a Live Update, it always says that I need to reboot the computer to finish applying the updates. It didn't used to do this before.
