I have a PC that I use to watch movies on. It accesses the movies on two Drobo NAS units. The PC and the Drobos have always been physically connected to a router. I manage the Drobos using Drobo Dashboard software. The Drobos show up in my Network in Windows Explorer and I cannot map drives to them as well.
I also have a MacBook Pro that I use for wireless access. I have the same Drobo Dashboard installed on this and I can also see the Drobos under Shared on my Mac.
I just switched my older router (D-link DIR 655) to a new Apple Airport Time Capsule (2TB). Upon doing so I lost access to my Drobos. I cannot find them on my PC. They don't show up in the network and I cannot find them using their old UNC pathx \\Drobo-FS1\Public\ or \\Drobo-FS2\Public\.
In the midst of this I updated my Mac OS to 10.8.5. The only reason I bring this up is that I now configure the Apple Airport Time Capsule with the Mac itself. Now as per the Drobo support forums, I have ensured that under System Preferences\Security and Privacy\Firewall\Firewall Settings I have "Allowed" the DDServiced64.
Note that on my PC I can see all the wireless devices in my house. Just not the hard-wired Drobo units.
Note to that when I was using my old D-link DIR 655 I was using DHCP and using static IP Addresses. In fact I believe I entered these static addresses in the Drobo settngs themselves in via the Drobo Dashboard. I think D-link uses different IP syntax like 192.168.0.1. I think the "0" is the differentiator for D-link routers.
I am trying to figure out if the issue is with: the new Apple Airport Time Capsule; a conflict between the Norton Internet Security that is on my PC (Ver: 21.1.0.18) and the Apple Airport Time Capsule; or could the old static D-link IP addresses that I configured the two Drobos with via the Drobo Dashboard be rendreing the units undiscoverable given that I am now using the Apple Airport Time Capsule [I have reached out to Drobo on this last question]?
Is there a Firewall or Traffic Rule setting on Norton that could in some way be conflicting with the Firewall settings of my Apple Airport Time Capsule?
Thanks
