I have had norton family installed on my sons laptop and was working fine, now it is not and I was trying to uninstall so that I could reinstall the program, but it will not reinstall and I cannot find it on the list of programs when pulling up the control panel.

No it does not work..
I actually told you wrong....It keeps erroring when I try to uninstall. It will not uninstall!!! Not sure why it stopped working in the first place!

What exact error message do you get? When you install Norton Safety Minder on the PC, the program will remove the existing Norton Safety Minder (if there is one) first automatically.

The only message is that "The installation and encountered an error and is unable to continue....an error report has been created that you can send to Symantec"..blah blah blah!
I get the same message when choosing the uninstall Norton Family or when I try to reinstall the program with out uninstalling first.

When trying to reinstall the program, the program automatically checks to see if the existing version is available, then uninstalls it first. Please reboot the PC after uninstalling the program is done to see that helps.
