Can Someone Explain How Norton Deals With Threats?

I just tried Norton Internet Security 2009 and the first thing I noticed that was different from programs I've used in the past was how NIS2009 reacted to threats. It appears that NIS2009 will automatically remove threats that are deemed [high/medium], where the programs I've used in the past would give a prompt and ask the user for the appropriate action. The latter is what I would prefer, but as far as I know, NIS2009 does not offer this function. What I am wondering is if dangerous items are ALWAYS sent to quarantine first, so that I could deal with it later, or will Norton sometimes decide to delete it completely. I would prefer not to take the chance of having NIS2009 permanently delete a false-positive by accident. However, if NIS2009 does indeed ALWAYS send threats to the quarantine first, and if that meant that I could always deal with false-positives afterwards with no risk of NIS2009 mistakingly deleting a file permanently, that would make NIS2009 the perfect product for me.
