Can unpacking a zip file cause files to be quarantined even if there is no threat?

Hi All,

I gave a customer of mine a zip file containinng an InstallShield setup.exe file (and other files).

The customer unpacked the zip file and found that the setup.exe file was quarantined.

So the customer removed the setup.exe file from quarantine and ran the setup.exe, which installed an exe file and other files.

Then upon reboot, the installed exe file was quarantined.

Does this mean there is a threat in the zip file, or in the installed exe?

Or can it be due to Norton 360 being carefull about downloaded zip files?

Thanks

Your customer needs to check the security history, to see what Norton is saying about the quarantine. It should note what it found.

Thanks.

After the customer un-quarantined the file, the information seems to be unavailable.

Also, how can you re-set the file to be considered a threat after you un-quarantined it.

Then I can test my new setup.

I was hoping the file would be in an exclusions list, but i dont see it there.

Thanks,
