Cannot block YouTube app on my daughter's samsung galaxy. Help

Hi.  I installed Norton Premier, and so far so good, excect for one thing:  the YouTube app.  I can block youtube in the website section of Norton. But in the app section, it doesn't show up, even though all of her other apps on her phone do show up there. So -- she has teh YouTube app and can access youtube with no problem. What is going on and why is this? We do not want her to have access to this site.  Thank you.

Hi chillyjilly,

Can you please let us know what version of Android is running on the phone?

Thanks

Katie

Can I add a me too on this..

I have just bought the premier version specifically to block the YouTube app on his HUDL tablet which I believe is running 4.2.2.

Under apps on the tablet it shows most of the apps but the youtube app does not show up.

I've also explicity blocked the site youtube.com in the web settings of the "online control panel" but it is still allowing it and showing in web activity as an allowed site - this is using the default chrome browser and NOT in incognito mode.

So far the 2 specific requirements of this product that I have paid £29.99  a year for are complete failures.

I appreciate I've hijacked this thread with an additional issue and I'm happy to start another thread for it and leave the lack of the youtube app blocking in this one.

Thx

Hi,

Can you please try the following to see if they help?

1.       Log into parent mode

2.       Go to Rules -> App supervision

3.       Turn App supervision OFF then back ON.

a.       Make sure there is enough time in between turning supervision OFF then ON to make sure that the sync was successful.

4.       Verify that Youtube is now on the list

5.       Make sure its blocked

IF option  1 doesn’t work

1.       Log into parent mode

2.       Unbind the child from the device

3.       Restart the device

4.       Launch NF

5.       Rebind the child to the device

6.       Go into parent mode

7.       Navigate to Rules -> App supervision

8.       Verify that the app list is complete will all installed apps.

Thanks,

Katie
