Cannot block Youtube

Hi, I have searched the community, but cannot find an answer to my issue.

I have parental controls in place and only MSEdge can be used, Chrome is blocked.
However, the sites I have blocked are blocked except for one…Youtube.

When I open up Edge and browse to the site, Norton reports that you are not allowed on this site and is supposed to block it, but it doesn’t. I can carry on browsing and watching Youtube videos.

Version of Edge is 138.0.3351.83 on Windows 11 Pro

Thanks

Hi Dean_Stearn

Thanks for reaching out to Norton Family Forum, we have analyzed further on your issue and noticed that policies are setup correctly. Could you please try the below options.

  1. Right click on Norton Family “TrayIcon” and click on “Update House Rules”
  2. Close all the open browsers and re-launch MS Edge and try visiting Youtube.com

Please try the steps and update us.

Thanks

Hi Suyambu

All browsers were closed on the laptop and then I refreshed the house rules as requested.
I then restarted Edge and this time YouTube was blocked.

However…

I then went to ChatGPT which is also a blocked site in my exceptions list and I was able to get into it and interact with it. I then went back to YouTube and it is no longer blocked.

I restarted the browser, and again YouTube and ChatGPT are fully accessible.

If you require any logs from my laptop, please let me know.

Thanks
Dean

Hi Dean_Stearn

Could you please try clearing the browser cache and check once. If its there in the cache, it might load the cached content, however further requests should get blocked.

If you continue to see the issue, we would like to have a remote session, please check and let us know we shall send you the remote session details to analyze the issue.

Thanks

Hi

I have cleared the cache on the browser and tried again. It is still letting me get to those sites when they should be blocked (Youtube and Chatgpt), others are blocked as expected.

Is there anything else I can try?

Thanks
Dean
