Hi,
I've just installed NIS 2009 as my subscription for NIS 2008 has ended (I was using the previous version for as long as I could because I've encountered the same problem earlier but thought it would be fixed by Symantec by now. Please, see the thread http://community.norton.com/norton/board/message?board.id=nis_feedback&thread.id=25949&view=by_date_ascending&page=1
).
Unfortunately, after the installation I cannot connect using Remote Desktop (nothing fancy, just mstsc.exe from Vista) through VPN (again, I just use the software VPN shipped with Windows Vista). When I connect by the remote desktop to some other computers without using VPN, everything works fine. The ping works fine throught VPN. No network activity is logged when I try to connect (the last entry is connected to establishing VPN connection and setting its security level to shared).
I've tried the following (and many more):
1) turning off the firewall
2) adding the rule which should allow access to and from all computers
3) disabling / removing the Norton driver from all connections
4) adding the IP of the remote network and the computer within it to list of trusted devices (setting rights to full access)
5) changing the VPN's network rights from shared to full (this resets to shared when I reestablish the connection)
6) turning all the protection off in every Norton's menu
The only thing that worked the last time was uninstalling the NIS 2009 and installing NIS 2008 again, so i'm sure this is a bug in the product.
Any help would be appreciated as I cannot use NIS 2008 forever.
With regards,
Tomasz Mularczyk
