Cannot connect to internet after removal of Norton Antivirus, please help

I was having a problem with Norton Antivirus 2005 and the Symantec tech told me in online chat that the only way to fix the problem was to remove Norton from my system. He did this with remote assistance. Now I cannot connect to the internet at all. I can't figure out if it is a problem with the firewall or what.....please help!

Thanks~!

Sam

Hi

Did the tech support use the removal tool

Quads

I am not sure if they used the removal tool or not. He had a problem removing it and had to have help from someone else. I had to restart my computer in safe mode for him to do it.

Hi Sam,

You can try to flush your DNS and resetting the winsock.

1. Click Start > Run, type  ipconfig /flushdns and click OK.

2. Click Start > Run, type  cmd and click OK.

3. in the command prompt, type the following and press Enter after each line:

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt [Enter]
netsh winsock reset
[Enter]

exit [Enter]

If the problem persists, you may have to perform a repair installation of Windows XP as this problem happens when the system files are damaged. You can find more instructions to perform a repair installation in this LINK.
