Cannot connect to Norton Account

Hello..

I bought Norton Antivirus 2011 today and installed it without any problem. Also there was no problem while activating it. The Live update was also succesful. But I cannot somehow connect to Norton account.Everytime I click on the Account link it says

"We cannot connect To Norton account at this time.Make sure you can connect to the internet and try again. If the problem persists please try again later".All the while , my pc is connected to the internet.

I dont know what could be the problem??

TIA

Ray576 - Welcome to the Community and lets see if we can solve your problem.  Just to eliminate one idea, are you using IE8 as your browser?  This might work in IE9 also, I don't know.  Could you have blocked the Norton or Symantec sites from your web browser?  In IE8, look under tools, Internet Options, Privacy, and Sites.  This should bring up the Managed websites display.  You would need to arrow down thorough the websites, to see if Norton.com or Symantec.com sites are listed as Always Block.  Try changing them to Always Allow.  Let us know if this helps.

No I am using Chrome 12 .

Sorry Ray576, that was my only idea, but I'm sure others will try to help you.

Hello Ray576,

I just checked my Norton account using Google Chrome 12 and had no problems.

Have you restarted the machine since the installation?

This may be just a temporary regional problem and may correct itself in a bit.

You could also check the settings as outlined in Step 2 of this 'semi-related' Symantec KB.

Well my problem is still not solved :smileysad:

I tried following the related instructions but to no avail...

My query is if I can run liveupdate why cant I access my account?

Everytime its the same message...

Please see the ur ...Help please

But then again , my subscription status check is okay!!

Let us try by setting IE as the default browser.

Open Internet Exploerer.

Click Tools > Internet Options.

Click the Programs tab.

Under Default web browser, click Make Default.

Click Apply, OK.

Then try to activate the Norton product.

You can revert the settings after you activate the product.
