I have NMS installed, the freebie version, and want to upgrade to the full version. I used to have the full version, but it went away way when I renewed my subscription and upgraded to latest version in September. Now, when I click on the button to "Upgrade to Full Version" in the app, I get an error message that says "Cannot Connect to Server". I know my Android is connecting to one of the Norton servers, because Live Update is working fine. Obviously it can't find the upgrade server?
Hey guys, I actually want to buy something from you, but you don't seem to want my money.
Hi jeffreywhill.
Welcome to the Community.
Can you tell us which version of NMS you are currently using as this may help?
If you want to move to the paid version of NMS today then you will need to move on to version 3.0 which is only available from Google Play (GP). Norton have very helpfully decided to rationalise all the different versions of NMS that existed a while ago and are now just putting the one version out via GP. Therefore even if you previously downloaded from the Norton Servers your next move needs to be via GP.
You therefore appear to have a couple of options. The first is to tell us your current version and what version of Android you are using then wait for someone to tell you what to do next. Or probably the quicker, and hopefully easier, given that you currently have no valid license for NMS, is to uninstall the version of NMS you currently have and then go to GP and download and install the latest version of NMS from there. This will require you to link through to the Norton Servers and either log into your Norton Account (if you have one) or create one. Then you will be able to manage the features of NMS from the Online Control panel.
Sadly I must warn you that while many people are successfully upgrading to NMS 3.0 there still seem to be a few bugs which are preventing some users from registering and therefore activating the new software. I hope you will not be one of those, but I had to warn you. Given that you currently have a working version (even if the freebie version), you might like to save a copy of the installation file before you attempt any upgrade. Then if the upgrade fails you could always uninstall that and reinstall the version you currently have until the bugs with 3.0 are sorted.
I hope that all makes some sort of sense and helps.
Please feel free to come back with any questions.
I'm running NMS 3.0.0.692, so all the stuff about upgrading to v3.0 appears to be irrelevant? I'm running Android 2.3.6 on a Motorola Atrix, ATT system version 4.5.141.MB860.
I will try your suggestion of uninstalling and re-installing from Google Play. Thanks for warning me about the bugs. However, if it doesn't work, I'll just get McAfee or Kaspersky or something instead instead of wasting more time on this. .
Good luck jeffreywhill.
Do keep us informed as to whether it works or not. Always good to know. ;-)
