Cannot Connect to Symantec Server / Trial Expired After Installation

I just purchased Norton Security to replace Norton 360 on my Windows 8.1 laptop. My Norton 360 was expiring in a week. I am having trouble getting activated. When I installed Norton Security, it removed Norton 360 and installed. However. when it gets to the end of the installation process, all it says is Cannot Connect to Symantec Servers. It also states that my trial has expired. I tried removing Norton Security with the Norton Removal Tool and tried the process several times all with the same results - Cannot Connect to Symantec Servers - Trial expired.

I have seen this thread and tried several things suggested there but still the same thing: http://community.norton.com/en/forums/cannot-connect-symantec-server. I see that someone mentioned that they contacted support and they removed cache files from his system. Where would these cache files be located?

I noticed that if I go to "manage.norton.com", it does show Norton Security and that it has not been activated. If I select Download Norton, it shows that my Norton Security subscription is ready.

Any suggestions?
