Cannot connect to symantec server

Okay so I just bought the newest Norton Security and downloaded and installed it onto my Sony Vaio laptop with windows 7 and it says "trail version has expired need to activate it now" and I push activate now and another screen pops up saying communicating with symantec server. Then it says "cannot connect to symantec server, try again later" I have been trying all day. I activated it on my i phone but it wont on the laptop and with out activating it I am unable to use any of the protection leaving my laptop at risk. So if someone could please help me that would be wonderful!! Thank you.

I had the same problem and have tried to uninstall my subscription and install the Comcast Norton Security Suite for the last week.  I tried to uninstall through Control Panel and then uninstall with the Norton Removal tool from  www.norton.com/nrt  

I could not get Norton to ask me for my Comcast PIN.  It was stuck on Activate and would not activate the program.

I was ready to give up.  I have a old Netbook computer with windows 10.  I tried one more thing.  Delete cache.  Then I used Disk Cleanup to delete temporary files.  I tried one more time to install Norton through Comcast.  I had a message that the server was down.  Went back to my desktop and was ready to give up and dish my old computer..  All the sudden, Norton started working and scanning.  So, I'm not sure what I did, but I've been trying to get it to work for the last week.  Maybe it is the temporary files that cause this problem.
