I have AutoHotKey macros which get flagged all the time by Norton as having IDP.Generic or somesuch. Then – and only then – it allows me to create an exception. (It doesn’t work, of course, but it pats me on the head and pretends to.)
Then the next macro comes up with the same error. Clicking on the “Create Exception” button then hangs.
I even let it run overnight. Nope. It’s gone to lunch and it ain’t comin’ back.
And then the next time I fire up the computer, it triggers on all the same macros again. And again. And again.
Hunted around for a way to create an exception through the menus.
Apparently ease of use was engineered out of this product, for such a beast exists only in fantasy novels where software is configurable and works according to the configuration.
Even resorted to Google. It says to go to “Security” and then “Antivirus”… and yet again, that mythical creature does not exist in the real world.
GOOD HEAVENS does ANYTHING about this live up to the reputation Norton once had???
HOW DO I CONFIGURE AN EFFECTIVE EXCEPTION???
