I find it a breathtaking and bitter irony that Norton, a company which aims to help users block spam, has started spamming users with marketing promotions, such as "Your Norton Subscription Will Soon Include Much more", which appear over the system tray, EVEN IF the user chooses to switch off "marketing notifications" in Settings.
I have already paid, generously, for this product in order to stop my computer being spammed. Now Norton is in the business of spewing out advertising on top of their paid-for products, and preventing users from disabling it, come what may. Why is not anyone in the Norton senior management doing anything to stop this nonsense?
I see my product is up for renewal in 25 days. I am seriously considering whether, for the first time in over 10 years, it's time to ditch Norton and switch to another product which doesn't play fast and loose, in this ridiculous and pathetic way, with its users.
Alternatively, someone in this company might actually begin thinking about this issue as a serious problem which undermines thie company's credibility massively, at a time when the computer security software market is getting more competitive than ever.
Isn't anyone in this company even faintly embarassed by the fact that their product is now doing the very thing, forcing unwanted adverts on users, that thousands of the PUP's (Potentially unwanted programmes) which Norton claims to be able thwart, are also doing?
Doesn't ANYONE in this company, which used to have such a rock-solid reputation, even feel a little bit queasy about that?
