cannot fully install and run ghost 15 - getting runtime errors

System - Win 7 -64.  This is a laptop - less than two months old, an i5 chip, 6 gigs of memory, no other system problems.   NIS 2012 installed on this machine and working flawlessly.  This machine is fully patched and up to date.

When I try to install Ghost 15, I get a variety of "runtime" errors.  I have searched Norton support, and have found references to these types of errors - but see no solution posted [of course, there may be one, I just haven't found it yet - so that's why I am posting here.

Here is one link to posts at Norton support that describe one of the aspects of my problem:

I also get an error that reports a problem with VProTray and similar "VPro..." errors.  As you can see, the version number of the VProConsole is the latest one I could find at the Norton site's downloadable file links [a version number which the Norton site reported as the latest -

I am stumped and hope there is some help for me.   I have used Ghost for many years, through many versions.  I currently have a working copy on my desktop [a win 7/64 machine - also fully patched and up to date] that works faultlessly.

Checking the control panel Programs and Features for both machines, I see that the desktop [ghost 15 long installed and works fine] has more Vis C++ libraries listed.  Perhaps there are clues there.   I don't know why the listings are different - as I let MS Windows Update give me everything MS deems important.  I have screen captures of those installed Vis C++ library listings - and will be glad post them if requested by Norton Support personnel.

[apologies for the inconsistent indenting in this message - I just wanted to indent the error message - but having done that, the Norton website rich text editor won't let me outdent later text]

Thanks for any and all help
