Cannot get NPE to finish a scan

HI, I've been plagued by the same issue and tried to read and try all the ways I can to get NPE to finish a scan.  Currently using NPE 2.1.0.12  under XP SP-3, and also I'm running End Point Protection 11.0.4000.2295.    I've disconnected my router now straight to modem and disabled Windows firewall.   no matter what I still ge the "has successfully restored internet connection..."  message as soon as it says "processing data".   i then select continue and it does it again,  after 3 tries it stops and says it requires a stable connection.   I've also tried it in Safe Mode with the same results.    I've been trying for about a week with no success.   There is no log file that i can find to look at.   the reason I'm running NPE is because i have the problem with the Trojan gen II detection message loop that generates many DWHxxxx.tmp files that never ends.   Help??
