I am unable to install Java 1.7 u11 properly. The installation runs smooth and ends with “Successfully installed”. Java runs correctly in IE9, but not in Chrome and Firefox. The browser plug-ins are NOT installed in Chrome/FF, only Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.110.21 10.11.2.21 is listed as plug-in; there is no Java Platform SE 7 U11 in the list. I have tried both online and offline installation. Whatever I do, the result is the same. From the Mozilla forum I have learned I am not the only one with this issue, but I have not found any working solution.
I test the installation at java.com, I am told that a plug-in is missing, I click to install but the process fails. I continue with a manual install, get message 'already installed', 'want to re-install?' Then 'Successfully installed', but still not working in the two browsers.
The problems started with Update 10, I can install 1.7 u9 without problems, but due to last week's security hole, it is not a good idea to continue with that release. I have only 32b browsers on my 64b system; I have now also installed Java 7 x64, but of course, it did not change anything.
I NEED Java to reach my bank accounts; fortunately IE9 is working with Java Plug-In SSV Helper (2 files), but I do not like these problems. Any help is highly appreciated.
