Cannot open NIS after successful system restore

I am using Windows XP and IE8.  After turning off Tamper Product Protection, I do a system restore.  Then, there is no NIS icon in the task bar, but there is a desktop icon.  When I click on this icon, I cannot open NIS.  I then have to undo the system restore, and then NIS icon reappears in the task bar (and the desktop), and everything is back to normal.  Help?

Hi DanC,

 

Because you are replacing some of Norton's current files and registry settings with older ones when you use System Restore, it can cause these sorts of issues.  If you need to use an earlier restore point to fix a problem on your PC, you may need to uninstall and reinstall Norton afterward.

Thanks for your reply.  I will await the next time I need to do a system restore before going through unimstall/reinstall.  I appreciate your reply.
