Cannot restore logins/passwords from .NPM file

Due to an NIS upgrade and other issues I lost all logins/passwords file.  In fact I could not start windows 7 for a while till I restored system settings to earlier backup.

I had a year old .NPM file that I created using an older version of Norton 360 (2009).  NIS did read that file a year ago, but now that I try to restore from it, it gives me the following error message:

Restore failed

As error has been detected while trying to open or restore a

file.  Verify that the file contains a backup of your Logins and

make sure that you have provided the correct password

I am using NIS 18.5.0.125.

I am sure I have the right password for the old .NPM file.

Thanks for the follow-up post telling us how you fixed this ... I think I would not have thought to do that ... this is good to know.
