Cannot setup my XBOX 360 as an extender on Windows Media Center because of N360 firewall

Hi everyone,

I spent hours looking online and through this forum for answers, tried many of them but nothing worked...

Quick background: I have Windows 7-64 bits and using Norton 360 v. 5.1.0.29

I'm trying to setup my Xbox 360 as an extender on Windows Media Center but everytime, it tells me that Norton 360's firewall is blocking this!... I've played with it a few times but am now getting back to default settings as I'm not an expert and don't want to put my laptop at risk...

I seems that I'm not the only one having this issue... Is this a bug that Norton/Symantec are simply ignoring?? I can't believe there's no solution for this! OR... should I just disable Norton's firewall and trust Windows' one?

Anyone? Any clue/tip/idea? Anything?... Going crazy here!

Thanks in advance!

Hi BeeLee,

Welcome to Norton Community!

Try the solution from the following Symantec KB:

http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20090330151400EN

Also, make sure that the Media Center files are set to Allow in the Program Rules, refer to the following Symantec KB:

http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080108172314EN

Although the above one is for Norton 360 2.0, the steps are almost same for Norton 360 5.0 as well. Let us know the results.
