Cannot view smart firewall program rules, and internet connection blocked

Hello,

Im running Windows Vista,

Norton 360 version: 3.8.0.41

My internet access just recently became blocked by Norton's Smart firewall. When I disable Smart Firewall I can access the internet through internet explorer. But when it is enabled, I cannot run programs like explorer or even windows update, but Norton can run live update. When I disable smart firewall, my laptop can be seen in the wireless network but when smart firewall is on, you cannot view my laptop on the network settings. So although my laptop says it is connected, my home desktop running the network cannot locate it. Also, the main issue is I would try to go to program rules in Norton and check the settings for internet explorer. But when I go to program rules for the firewall, their is a blank screen, and no matter how long I wait the program rules do not appear. I dont remember this screen ever working, but It never effected me, so I never got around to dealing with it.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks.

Hello!

Most likely you or something else has messed-up with Norton's firewall settings . I would advice you reinstall the product and upgrade to the very latest - version 4 . It includes numerous improvements in security and usability.

The reinstall will clear-up your settings (which might be "broke" now). If you current subscription is active , you are entitled to a free upgrade to version 4.

Uninstall your current N360 3.8 from Control Panel -> Programs and feautures. Select the options to remove all settings. Capture.PNG

Don't forget to reboot .

After that , download Norton Removal tool www.symantec.com/nrt

Run it as Administrator.

At the end - download Norton 360 version 4
