There are no such entries in the registry.

Correction:  There are no such "keys" in my registry.

Look further down the software branch for Symantec and take out Ghost if it is still there.

Also look in HKey_Current _User.

I do not find either of those items, either.  There is a Symantec item, but it contains "RPAM" only.

I did not see the screen shot - can you post that?

Here is screen shot.

Here is screen shot (I hope).

This particular error is being thrown by the MSI installer, which is the Microsoft installater piece of Ghost. This could be cause by many different things, but if that folder is not in the registry, then we need to try a few more steps. This should not take too much time, but will take a little patience nonetheless.

First, go into your add\remove programs and ensure that Ghost is not there.

Second, in your add\remove programs, remove Microsoft .NET framework, with the latest version first, working your way to the oldest.

Third, click start > All Programs > Accessories. Right-click on Command Prompt and select "Run as Administrator". Click "Allow" for the elevation prompt and type the following command: fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\

Fourth, reboot the system.

Fifth, ensure that your system is patched with the latest Microsoft updates. (Click the Start button, click All Programs, and then click Windows Update.)

Finally, browse to the installation CD. Right-mouse click on browser.exe, click Run As Administrator, and click Allow. Run a typical installation. Do not do a custom installation.

I followed your instructions.

1. Ghost was not in add/remove list.

2. Microsoft .NET framework was not there, either.  See second screen shot.

3. Ran the "fsutil..." program.

4. Checked for updates.

5. In the installation CD, could not find "browser.exe."  See first screen shot.

My bad. It is likely the setup.exe inside of the Install folder. Right-click on that and 'Run as administrator...'/ Again, do a typical installation, not a custom install.

Got my products a little mixed up - sorry about that. :)

.NET 2.0 should be in your Add/Remove Programs after Ghost installs. If that is not installing, that could be a problem. Install it manually by clicking here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=19

This is the x64 version: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=6523

Followed your instructions to do a typical installation from setup.exe as administrator.  Got same error.

Tried to install .NET 2.0 (64-bit) per your instructions.  Got message "Product already installed as part of Operating System."

Next?

This could be an issue with registry permissions, an invalid registry key, etc. Rather than messing with this stuff on your computer on this forum, it might be best if you opened a case with Ghost support and went from there. The tech can walk you through some troubleshooting one-on-one.

I just thought of one more thing -- slick START > RUN, then type SERVICES.MSC. In the list, locate the service WINDOWS INSTALLER SERVICE, and make sure it is set to AUTOMATIC, and make sure it is started.

I started Windows Installer.  Same result.  How do I open a case?

There is one more step to try. This is fairly complex, so proceed cautiously.  To be safe, you may want to boot to the Ghost disk and perform a cold image before doing this command.:

1. Type WBEMtest.exe from the START | Run line.
2. Click Connect
3. Leave Namespace root\cimv2 (This should be the default value)
4. Click connect again
5. Click Query
6. Enter the value in the space:

Select * from Win32_LogicalDisk where FreeSpace > 100000
7.Click Apply. A Query results showing drives on the disk. Make sure these appear correct.
8. Close this Window.

You will now clear this repository:

1. Go to start | Run | cmd
2. Type "net stop winmgmt"
3. Type "cd %windir%\system32\wbem"
4. Type "ren repository repository.old"
5. Type "net start winmgmt"
This will force a rebuild of the WMI repository. Reboot and try to reinstall Ghost.

Thanks for your help, but this is getting a little too complicated for me.  I am going to purchase another product.
