Cant activat new product,norton 360premier edition

I purchaced premier edition today to take advantage of extra back up space.my existing n360 has 43 days left which i will forfit. I have downloaded it several times successfully,and entered the product key and seriel number where required but the new product doesn't come up. the status shows the old n360 has been disabled but the new n360p.e. ia not active. what did i do wrong, and what can i do now.
