I can't help you myself but "I know a man who can ...."
So hang in there for some help.
I have not run into issues where the connectivity does not return after an install and reboot. The connectivity interruption during install is due to interruption of the stack while the network drivers are inserted. Do you still see connectivity issues after a reboot? Do you still see the network adapter in your network properties?

The connectivity interruption during install is due to interruption of the stack while the network drivers are inserted. Do you still see connectivity issues after a reboot? Yes. Do you still see the network adapter in your network properties? Not after the reboot. And not after another reboot after that.
A connectivity interruption for any reason is not acceptable especially since Norton 360 was expecting a connection to activate the product after the install -- not after a reboot.
Anyway, this is a moot point now because I reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled Windows to recover my network adapters. Ironically, Norton 360 caused what I expected it to prevent: lose half my datafiles.
