Can't disable NIS with msconfig

When I try to disable NIS in msconfig the box rechecks itself after I click "reply" so I can't disable it.

 

Microsoft advised me to disable my firewall and anti-virus while downloading and installing Windows Update. I have a dial up connection if that matters. Other software vendors have also said I should disable it while downloading and installing their product.  Please help me know what to do.

This has been anwered in your post in the other thread here.  Basically, you will have to uninstall the 2010 Norton product to stop the product from loading.
