I installed Norton Family on my son's new android phone but he can't send or receive MMS messages. I've set all contacts to be monitored but I don't see any way to approve the download of the pictures. It won't even accept one from me. The monitor shows that they've been sent and received but doesn't show what it is or if I can approve for it to come through. Any ideas?
He has an LG Lucid 2 - the messages are received (and show as recieved in his Activity detail), but when you touch the download button - nothing happens. It gives a quick flash but that's it.
Anything found out about this yet:?
The Norton Family app doesn't support blocking of the actual images attached to an MMS message, only the message as a whole, so it's unlikely that this is the source of the problem.
I did a search for "LG lucid 2 MMS problems" and there are reports of issues with different apps and carriers. Can you tell us if your son is using the default text message app for this device, and which carrier he is using?
I agree. :) After extensive testing, it turns out his mobile data was turned off. #embarrassed (I should have known better!)
I do have a different question though - the MMS texts are being logged as received (yeah!).
Settings are to block new users and monitor all others.
Question is: are the pictures recorded on Norton as well, or just the notification that a MMS message was received?
Thanks for everything!
One more thing - the MMS messages he sends aren't being recorded. Just the ones received.
That's great! Glad to hear that it is working now.
Norton Family doesn't store the images anywhere, the app just logs that a MMS message was received and blocks or allows it through.
As far as sending MMS messages, do you know what app he is using? It is much easier for us to detect a received message (because that is considered a system-level event in Android) than to detect a sent message (because that is done at the app-level)
He's using the app that came with the phone for all of his texting activities.
