Can't enter product key for renewed Norton 360

My mother's Norton 360 is about to expire and she asked me to renew it.  She doesn't like buying online so I went to a shop and bought a  CD for Norton 360 V5. Now I can't find how to enter the new product key.  When I log into her account it says 2 days remaining, I click on "renew" and the only options are to purchase products.  I did this last year and there was no problem. Somewhere I got a screen with the option to buy and an option labelled something like "I have a product key".   I've tried chat and I keep just being told to click renew and enter the product code, but I can't.

Hi Jouk,

Welcome to the Norton Community.

I believe you are at the correct options, however you may need to look below on that same window which would give a box to enter a product key or renewal code.

Addtionally you could also try clicking on 'My account' at the top right hand corner and then click Renew and try the above step.

Please update us.

CH33RS!

I'll have another look and let you know

Hi,

Click "My Account" from Norton 360 UI -> Click "Renew Now" link under it. "Subscription" UI will displayed, Check whether you have a edit box at the bottom of the UI, You can enter your product key in that edit box for activation.

First, apologies for setting up the same question twice.  Somebody has kindly combined them now, thank you.

When I log into "my account" it gives me a page with tabs "products", "order history" and "profile".  "products" is selected and there's a "renew" button.  There are no other buttons or anywhere I could type text in.

Click on "Renew" opens another page with 3 columns for 3 Norton products.  Towards the top of ach column is a "buy now" button, and below it are ticks shwoing which features are in each product.  I've gone all the way to the bottom and there are no other buttons lower down.  There are "more info" links above each of the "buy now" buttons, but that just opens a new window with features an another "buy now" button - so I closed that window.  I clicked "buy now" towards the top of one of the 3 columns which asked if I wanted to add "PC tuneup"; I clicked "keep my choice" and got a "shopping cart" screen with the product I chose and "service".  This screen has a "coupon code" but that sounds like a discount not a product code.  If I click "continue" on the "shopping cart" page I get a page asking for card details, with nowhere to enter a product code as an alternative.

I think you've logged in directly to your norton account. You need to click on the My Account option on the N360 UI, it is there where you'd find a space to enter the product code.

This may confuse rather than help but I thought that to enter a new code to renew you click on Subscribe on the N 360 main screen and get to I have an existing key or words to that effect?

But you have to do this on the actual machine with the installation -- or another machine with the same product KEY and activatation MyNortonAccount if it is one of several activations on a single KEY ....

Renew takes you to buy time from Norton OnLine.

If you do not have physical access to her PC then you will have to find a way for her to enter the new KEY as above -- or maybe set up an activation on a computer you do have access to using her log in to the MyNortonAccount used by her machine and activate that local to you installation with the new KEY. Then if she does Support > Subscri;ption Status it should pick it up.

If all else fails ..... get in touch with Norton's super OnLine Customer Support via CHAT as below and see if they can put that KEY you have into her online account!

To contact customer support Click on this link and work on from there. You may have to scroll down a little to see the SCAN button.

You can choose CHAT or Email; email or phone may have a long wait time and feedback from users tells us that CHAT is by far the best at resolving problems.

Note that that link is to the USA/CAN website so if you are located elsewhere I'm sure you will be able to find the equivalent location on your local Symantec website; some pages have a link at the top right where you can select the country you are located in.

Please let us know how you get on ....

Hi,

You can't renew her subscription at www.mynortonaccount.com if you purchase a new product from a retail shop. That would mean you are getting a new product key. The product keys are actually where the subscription is tied up to. This new product key needs to be used or entered manually on your mother's computer, and then consequently registered on her Norton account.

(this means you will basically have another product when you open her Norton account website, which will all be listed under the "Products" tab)

The postings on 16th July showed me what I was doing wrong.  I was clicking on the desktop shortcut to Norton 360, then the Account link towards the top right.  After that I was going to "Access Norton Account" and loggin in when I should have gone to "Renew Subscription".  From "Renew subscription" there was the option to put in a product key and then it was simple.

Thank you so much guys.

I haven't said that I'm in the UK, so it may be slightly different than the US/Canada site.

I had another problem later. I had put the new CD in, which was a mistake.   The CD did uninstall of the existing verssion of Norton 360 then didn't install a new one.

After I put in the new product key (as you guys helped me with and I posted a few minutes ago) I reached the point where if I logged in to mum's account then went to"norton Update Centre" and chose "Update me now" it said "No Norton Product was found". If I went to "norton Update Centre" then "choose my product manually" and selected Norton 360 version 5 it said "Your Norton product version is up-to-date".

I went to chat to sort this out, which they did.

I'd tried chat when I had the first problem before I posted on the forum, and it didn't help at all.  They seemed to be ignoring what I told them and just saying I needed to enter the product code.  I got totally frustrated and gave up.

The second time  I used chat I followed their way of working, repeating things I'd already told them.  Do they have a set script which they work through, with standard wording for messages they send?  Are they dealing with too many customers at the same time so sometimes loose track of what you've already said?

My conclusion is you have to be very patient if you want to use chat and not give up when you have to repeat things.

As I said before, thanks for your help.

I'm glad you worked it all out in the end and that CHAT helped.

Even I use boilerplate ....... and even here it took a long time for all of us to get on the same wavelength.

It really is difficult when you can't see or touch the patient!
