HI all, not sure if this is the place to post my issue or not... here it goes:
My Norton subscription expires soon, and every time I try to purchase Norton "Norton 360 Deluxe" from the main website, I can't get past the "LOOKS LIKE YOUR CART IS EMPTY" screen!
I've shut off pop-up blockers, all ad blockers, tracking blockers, allowed Flash, etc and used both Firefox and Opera but nothing will allow me to make the purchase! Something somewhere is blocking me but for the life of me I can't figure out what!
Help? I haven't been able to find a way to send an email to SUPPORT...
PS: I can't use the "RENEW" option because I am not sticking with the same product this year
Thank you @lmacri ! I bought a (much cheaper) license for Norton 360 on Amazon and it was literally 2 clicks to redeem the renewal and update the software. So much easier than buying from Norton themselves!
My Norton has now EXPIRED and I STILL cannot choose a product other than renewing what I had (that just expired). I DO, though, now get a banner that says:
"It looks like you already have a subscription with us. Please contact Support for additional purchase or upgrade options."
So I am still stuck.
Oh, and I didn't see lmacri's note above until now. My email loves to block things I NEED to see! I just fired off that note.
Hi, please advise if a solution was found for this issue? I'm having the same issue with "cart is empty" and I've tried everything suggested and everything I could think of. I contacted Norton via Chat and after waiting a long time and having to start the chat over a few times, they told me to phone Lifelock - which I don't want to do because it takes forever and I'm working. I've been with Norton for over a decade and have 4 days left on subscription. Been trying to review for 10 days and very frustrated, so pls lmk if you found a fix for this? The shopping cart works fine as long as I don't sign in. I currently have Norton Security Premium and the renewal for this would be $160; I'm hoping to switch to Norton 360 Select instead for $99.
Hi VxB:
I used to renew my Norton subscription every year by purchasing a product key from a local retailer or an online authorized reseller like Amazon.ca when it was on sale, wait until the day before my current subscription expired and then enter the new key in my Norton interface at Help | Account Information | Enter Product Key. This would automatically start a new one year (365 day) subscription for my product so I would loose the few days remaining on my current subscription when I entered the product key this way, but I would simply contact Norton Customer Support via Live Chat at https://www.norton.com/chat and ask them to transfer the days remaining on my "old" subscription over to my "new" subscription.
For some ridiculous reason Norton LifeLock might now prompt you to enter your billing and credit card number even if you renew manually with a product key purchased from an authorized reseller (see the FAQ: Norton Subscription and Renewal), but you can log into your Norton Account at https://my.norton.com/extspa/account/subscriptions, turn off auto-renewal and then delete your billing information after you've manually renewed with your new product key.
You don't even have to purchase a product key that matches the identical product you now own if it has similar (or better) features to your current product. For example, I use the Norton Security Deluxe v22.15.2 (the legacy version for Win XP/Vista that is no longer available for purchase) on my Vista SP2 machine. I would buy a retail box of the latest Norton 360 Premium or Deluxe (which ever was cheaper) from Staples or BestBuy for $19.99 CAD (~ $14 USD) during one of their Back-to-School or Christmas sales, and just before my subscription expired I would contact Norton customer support via Live Chat, tell them the new N360 25-digit product key, and they would add 365 days to my current subscription and then void the new product key so it couldn't be re-sold illegally.

Just want you to know that I'm not ignoring you (and I'm sure the same can be said for Guru peterweb), but Norton LifeLock employee Gayathri_R has responded in this thread so it makes more sense that they deal with this problem since they have access to your Norton Account. A red ADMIN or EMPLOYEE badge in the user's profile badge like the one in Gayathri_R's 23-Apr-2020 post <here> means that they work for Norton LifeLock.
If you don't hear back from Gayathri_R on Monday I'd suggest you send them a private message (go to their user profile at https://community.norton.com/en/users/gayathrir and click the "Send this user a private message" link) and let them know you still can't renew your Norton subscription. I'm not exactly sure what Gayathri_R wanted you to do when they asked you to "deactivate" Norton so you should ask for clarification when you PM them. It sounds like you followed the instructions in the support article Remove a Device From Your Norton Account and removed your device from Device Security, but Gayathri_R might want you to remove the license for your device from My Subscriptions at https://my.norton.com/account/subscriptions as shown below (which I believe would turn off your Norton real-time protection until you reactivated your protection by entering your 25-digit product key in the Norton interface at Help | Enter Product Key).
Once again, I HAVE shut off ad blockers, popups, etc etc etc. One thing I DID notice is I used PRIVATE browser windows, not SAFE ones like lmacri suggested. So I'll give that a go right now... stay tuned...
If you have ad blocker extensions in your browsers, try disabling them for the Norton web sites. I have found some features of the web sites that do not work correctly with ad blocker active.
OK, tried the PRIVATE BROWSER route, didn't work with either Opera or Firefox. Then I shut off ALL security features for them, didn't work... now I am going to try shutting off Norton and see what happens...
NOPE, didn't work.
I also did add NORTON.COM to the list of "safe" websites...
I can't see how to deactivate my current product. Maybe it will work once it actually expires (in 19 days)?
IMACRI - I will try that one next, and look at the other thread
GAYATHRI_R - Thing is, I can't afford to renew the product-level I have now (360 w/LifeLock), otherwise I could just RENEW. BUT, if the other idea (using a private browser window) doesn't work, I may have to try it.
Thank you for reporting this issue on the Norton Community forums. Looks like you have a valid Norton 360 product. So could you please deactivate the product and then try to purchase? Please let me know if this works. Thank you.

Hi JD_Neils:
Try starting up Firefox in Safe Mode (Help | Re-start with Add-ons Disabled...) and make sure that you haven't changed the level of Content Blocking (Options | Privacy & Security | Browser Privacy | Content Blocking) in Firefox from "Standard" (the default) to "Strict" or "Custom". You might also find that whitelisting the Norton online store (e.g., buy.norton.com) at Options | Privacy & Security | Browser Privacy | Content Blocking | Manage Exceptions also helps. See the support articleTroubleshoot Firefox Issues Using Safe Mode for more hints.
I found a few other threads where users reported that same "cart is empty" error, and Norton employee Sunil_GA suggested <here> in Frop's thread that the problem was caused by a DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials browser extension (which the user didn't have). In that case Frop had to contact Norton Customer Support via Live Chat (https://www.norton.com/chat) to solve the problem. Just be aware that wait times for a Live Chat might be quite long these days because Norton has reduced the number of support agents in their office during the COVID-19 outbreak.
