I’ve read posts here about Ghost 14 and checked the web site but couldn’t find anything matching my problem. So here we go:
I’m running Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP2 on a Dell XPS 630i with 4 GIG RAM. I also have NIS 2009 on the computer.
I’ve tried installing Ghost 14 twice and failed both times. Neither time did any damage to my system.
The first time I tried the installation I’d forgotten that I’d installed NSR 2.0, hoping it would work. It didn’t. Ghost 14 recognized it, and I told Ghost to go ahead and uninstall it. I got through entering the product key and activation. Ghost then had to reboot.
It didn’t reboot. All I got was a blank, black screen. I had to turn off my computer manually then reboot. Rebooted with no problem, but Ghost wasn’t there. I used Norton Removal Tool to get rid of NIS 2009 and whatever remnants of Ghost might be hiding.
Reinstalled NIS 2009, followed by Ghost 14 (entered product key and activated again). The same things happened.
I thought that NIS 2009 might be causing Ghost a problem so I tried booting from the CD.
When I boot from the CD, I get a BSOD that says:
A problem has been (you know the rest)
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
STOP: 0x0000000A (0xF42A919E, 0x00000002, 0x0000000, 0x810BA8D7)
So, to me, it appears that there’s something on my system Ghost 14 doesn’t like as opposed to some problem with NIS 2009.
Anybody have any suggestions on how I can get Ghost 14 to work on my system?
Thanks in advance!
Larry
P.S. FWIW, I ran CCleaner to check NRT’s work. There were lots of registry items left behind. I cleaned them out, and everything works normally.
