Hi folks,
First up - I LOVE NIS 2011! Brilliant work ...
WIN 7 Pro - 64 bit
Rather than use express update I purchased a new 3 user copy of NIS 2011 (much cheaper - sorry). When I popped in the CD it appeared to go through the install process (locating updates etc) and then stopped. I went to my account to see if I could simply enter in a new product purchase - can't. So I figured I'd need to remove my 'old' copy and then reinstall from the new CD.
Sadly norton's uninstall program won't work although a window popped up asking me if I wanted to do this - "Yes please!": and nothing. I went to uninstall it via control panel and nothing at all happened.
I called support (case id# ) and explained the situation. I was told that I needed to pay a fee (as much as it cost for the new product) so that I could install it. Interesting way to help install a purchased product. Something is 'wrong' - and it's not a problem I've encountered before. I always buy a new boxed copy to upgrade and whatever days were remaining on my subscription was added to the 'new' product key.
I know I can use the NRT and hopefully kill all traces of Symantec files from my system but before doing so I thought I'd check to see if there was a simpler way to resolve this.
Any suggestions gratefully received :)
